80 METERS
There are two antenna systems in use. A M2 80M-1 rotatable dipole at 185' and a Comtek 4SQR array. Both are selectable using a microHam Stack Max switch and can be alternated for TX and RX (listen on one, transmit on the other). Beverage antennas can be used for receive.
80M-1
A major ice and wind storm destroyed the 80M beam shown here over night Sunday, December 16, 2007. The boom broke at both ends and the director and reflector were left hanging from the trussing. Damage to the feed lines and control cables for the 80M and top 20M beam was caused by the wind slamming the dangling elements into the tower. Matt & Andy from XX Towers came to the rescue on Wednesday and by the end of the day Thursday the elements were removed and all the cables and feed lines were repaired. The remaining driven element is now used as a rotatable dipole. The dipole is mounted on a 3" Chrome Moly mast through two thrust bearings to a prop pitch motor.

4SQR
The first 4SQR system was a Colatchco design that a lightning strike destroyed. The spacing is from that original layout. Orientation is 45/135/225/315 degrees. A Comtek phase system using a microHam Stack Max switch was purchased to replace it. The elements are almost full size, as they were recently bottom loaded to go lower in frequency on 80M phone. The verticals are made from push up TV masts with aluminum extensions added to the tops. All verticals are supported by three levels of 4 point guying. Additional bottom loading is added to operate CW at times. There are at least 240 external radials.
